All black and white? My resolution is gray!

January 5, 2016

Happy New Year!!  I hope the year has started out just the way you wanted!

In the past, my New Years resolutions have been very black and white. For example, I’m going to lose 10 pounds, I’m going to stop eating sweets, I’m going to work out 5 days a week, I’m going to cut out all processed foods, I’m going to etc, etc… Black and white, right or wrong, sugar or no sugar, exercise or not, good or bad, best or worst, win or lose – These are all so self defeating. I want to show up with more balance in my life in 2016.  I don’t want to make ridiculous goals that don’t equate to real life scenarios.  Life is busy and I want to make day by day choices and do the best I can in each situation.  More over, I want MODERATION in 2016! So, this year and every year forward my New Year’s resolution is GRAY! I want to listen to myself and see what I need each day, each moment. I want to be okay with eating a piece of cake at birthday parties.  Instead of restricting myself for 3 weeks and then eating a whole box of cookies. I want to be okay with not getting time to workout one week, but celebrate that I did walk up and down the stairs 100 times while cleaning the house. I want to teach my kids that everything isn’t right or wrong.  Instead I want them to learn how to behave, make better choices, and show up in their lives how they want others to show up for them.  And know that they are being and doing the best they can in each moment, just as I am. I want to encourage my kids to keep the competition where it belongs.  Not between siblings, friends, or relationships. I want to show my kids that my values, choices, and decisions, and their values, choices, decisions, and outcomes are not better or worse than anyone elses, they are only DIFFERENT. I want to cut out the words “good” and “bad” from my vocabulary. Here’s to GRAY! Here’s to MODERATION! Here’s to a New Way in 2016 ~ whatever you choose resolve or not resolve.   In Health and Healing,   kellysignature
